So you’ve escaped to the Cotswold’s for a romantic short break. Enjoying the secluded hot tub with a view and exploring the lake with your own rowing boat. How about finishing one of those special days off perfectly with a romantic meal – cooked by yours truly. And what better food to choose than the best seafood this side of Cornwall.
Nestled in the heart of Cirencester, The New Wave Fish Shop is the place to head. This traditional fishmonger and fine food shop sells everything from live lobsters to the biggest prawns we have ever seen. Most importantly too they are incredibly friendly and knowledgeable and are happy to give any advice on the best way to turn their produce into the perfectly executed romantic meal. They can fillet, skin and pin-bone fish for you, even wrapping it in vacuum-packed, odour-free bags – all free of charge. Lobsters can be cooked to order using their state-of the art steamer to give perfect results every time.
For those less adventurous they also offer delicious homemade food to take away, such as fish pies, fishcakes, and potted shrimp. This is prepared daily in the shop by their resident chef Ben Hoggett using the freshest natural ingredients.
Supplying top fish restaurants these guys are the real deal. Their diverse selection of fish and shellfish comes daily from renowned fishing ports in the UK, including Looe, Plymouth, Brixham, Newlyn and Shetland. Naturally they support sustainable sources too which fits in well with our eco-friendly holidays. As with all proper fishmongers, what’s on offer changes a little with the seasons and conditions – but there is always plenty to choose from.
Conveniently situated right next to M&S, so you can grab a chocolate pudding or two. Once back to your luxury lakeside cabin, your fully equipped kitchen should have everything you need to prepare everything. Eating al fresco on the decking in the warm summer months or in front of the cosy wood burner on a winter break in the Cotswolds. What better way to celebrate your special time away…
