A visit to Log House Holidays is an opportunity to get back to nature, and there are a variety of things to do in all seasons. Our Welcome Pack comes with lots of ideas for your stay and can be found in your cabin on arrival. Don’t forget to check out our Cotswold Guide too for days out in the surrounding area.
Hot Tub
Every log cabin has the option of a traditional Finnish wooden hot tub overlooking the lake for ultimate relaxation and romance. Heated to a perfect 39 degrees. Watching sunsets and sunrises from your steaming hot tub is always a highlight whatever the season.
Boating
All of our log houses come with their own private rowing boat; perfect for exploring the lake and for heading out in search of otters. Kayaks or paddle boards can also be requested for a more energetic day on the lake and as a great way to get really close to nature.
Firepits
In the evenings, gather round the roaring fire with views across the lake and stars above. Waiting at your cabin is a Fire Box with firelighters, matches, skewers and marshmallows. Perfect for making both family memories and romantic occasions. You’ll find a box of cosy blankets at your cabin so you can sit around the fire pit in all seasons.
Cosy Up
Sometimes you’ve got to just turn off and our cosy cabins are the perfect place to do just that. Snuggle up in front of the log fire with a good book or catch up on that box set you’ve been meaning to watch. That’s what holidays are all about. Play your favourite board games whilst you decide when your next hot tub will be.
Nature Trails
The 2.5 mile circular track landscaped around the edge of the lake and through secret woodlands is great for walking, jogging or cycling. This is one of the best ways to see the abundant wildlife that we have here. With so much space to enjoy, our cabins are perfect if you want to take your dogs on holiday too.
Spa Treatments
Turn your private cabin into a 5 star luxury spa with ‘Glo’, a luxury spa service that comes to you. A must on a romantic break in the UK or honeymoon. Check out our Optional Extras page to see what treatments you can indulge in during your stay. Our spa breaks are perfect for a girls weekend away too.
Swimming
Our spring-fed clear water lake is great for swimming during summer months when you want to cool off. Take a dip from your cabins private beach or jump in from your rowing boat.
Cycling
Bicycles can be rented locally for your stay, and they’re a fun way to explore the local area. The surrounding areas are mostly flat and we provide a useful OS map in your cabin for local cycle routes. Our complete Cotswold holiday guide also has a cycling section with lots of good routes.
Fishing
The lake offers great catches of Pike, Perch, Tench, Rudd and Roach. For those without their own equipment, we can recommend our local fishing shop, The Tackle Den. Further details of fishing can be seen in our FAQ page below.
Birdwatching
The Cotswold Water Park is fast becoming an important area nationally for over 200 species of birds. There is lots to see throughout the year from great crested grebe, starlings and kingfishers to bitten, nightingales and osprey. We have a tern colony on one of the gravel islands too which is fantastic to watch from a swing chair we have hung nearby. Take the binoculars we have left in your cabin and see what you can spot. The Waterpark Trust have created an excellent wildlife checklist for birdwatching holidays that you can find here.
Picnics
With so many special spots around the lake, taking a picnic by the waterside is always a great way to spend an afternoon. In your Welcome Pack we have put together a map of the best spots for rolling out the picnic rug. Feel free to be as adventurous as you like though. It is easy to pass away the time by taking in the abundant wildlife and scenery that has made this place a Site of Special Scientific Interest.
Playing Field
We have a 4 acre private field perfect for flying a kite or enjoying a game of rounders if you’re on a group holiday with friends or family. This field is also a good spot to take some dog training lessons whilst here.
