What to do on your log cabin holiday this month...

Look forward to sending summer off in style this September. The lake is still warm and it’s a great month to be out enjoying activities on the water such as rowing, kayaking or paddle boarding. The clear lake water is spring fed and is wonderful for wild swimming too if you fancy a restorative dip.

If the temperature does begin to drop as summer makes way for autumn you’ll witness amazing misty mornings as the lake slowly starts to lose its summer warmth. Once the morning mist makes way for another glorious day on the lake, look out for the wide array of wildlife that is best seen at this time of year. You may spot swallows, starlings, king fishers, oystercatchers and reed warblers to name just a few of our favourites. This month also marks the start of some excellent fishing for pike. You can either bring your own tackle or get what you need at the local Tackle Den who can provide you with any equipment and helpful advise.

Schools are back in term time now and the Cotswold’s becomes wonderfully quiet – a perfect for enjoying the popular attractions! This is a bountiful month for local produce so make sure you stop by at one of the many farmers markets and farm shops whilst out and about. Enjoy the best of this years harvest from the finest Cotswold growers and producers. One of the big events to put in your Cotswold itinerary is Blenheim Horse Trials which is one of the most famous of all of the three day horse events. Wander the breathtaking grounds of this historical estate and take in the electric atmosphere as horses make their way around this challenging course.

Spend more time with the people you love on your September holiday and get back to nature by heading out for long walks and to forage for seasonal berries. Blackberries are ready for eating this month and you’ll find lots of spots around the lake where you can fill a bowl from. As the day draws to a close gather round the fire pit and tuck into your homemade blackberry crumble whilst enjoying a clear September night sky above. Continue the star gazing in your hot tub and recharge for another perfect day away at the lake.
