What to do on your log cabin holiday this month...

Escape to the Cotswold out of season and you’ll find just as much beauty and charm without any crowds. Its time to wrap up, get out there and blow off some cobwebs! Take a few bikes and plan a route, using your cabins OS map, to one of our top Cotswold pubs or farm shops. If you’re here to enjoy a Valentines weekend in the Cotswolds make sure you head to Painswick Rococo Gardens for a mind clearing romantic walk amongst the swathes of snowdrops. Of course long hours spent in the hot tub together and rowing each other around the lake are things which should definitely be high on the list too! If you peak out from under the duvet to find a day or two of bad weather look forward to a guilt-free lazy day in your secluded log cabin, cosying up in front of the log fire with a hot drink, enjoying a good book or catching up on a much awaited box set. You’ll also find a fun collection of board games to enjoy. Don’t forget though – we’re often told by our guests that they’ve have the most fun in the hot tub when it was raining or snowing outside so don’t let a bit of winter weather put you off! Long winter days inside are a perfect time to plan your summer cabin holiday too and although the idea of swimming in the lake and paddle boarding seems crazy now you’ll be amazed at how the lake transforms through the seasons. With the kids off for half term perhaps you’ll find yourself exploring some of the local family friendly Cotswold attractions. In which case be sure to check out the Cotswold Wildlife Park where you can see a whole array of animals including rhino, lions and giraffes. Continue the lookout for big mammals whilst back at the lake and you might be lucky enough to see one of the otter families that share the lake with you. There are lots of birds to keep a look out for too – including regal swans who plane in an out as they skid down on the lake surface in front of you before disappearing into the mist again. February is a great time for star gazing with clear winter nights. There’s two options here: lying back in your steaming jacuzzi or gathering round your outdoor fire pit. Both of course need to be enjoyed with a glass of something nice and some toasted marshmallows to make you feel like a kid again! Top 3 things to do in the local area at the moment: 1. Head to Painswick Gardens to wander amongst the sea of snowdrops. 2. Take a cycle through rolling Cotswold countryside to Jolly Nice Farm Shop for a much deserved coffee and cake and to pick up some delicacies for dinner. 3. Choose a night of drama at one of great theatres in either Bath or Cheltenham.
