Whether you’re the organized group that manages to get away each and every year or you’ve been meaning to get together with all your closest friends but have never got round to it – Log House Holidays is the perfect place to escape. Simply find a date that works for everyone, choose your favourite cabin, and tick off some of the below planning. Now you’re all set for a memorable escape! And if you want to spread out across more than one of our cabins you’re only a short row (or paddleboard) away from each other…
Order your food shop online
Simple as that. Fill your basket with some delicious holiday foods (cheese, wine, chocolate, Check). Tesco, Ocado and Sainsbury’s will all deliver straight to your cabin door so you won’t need to leave once you’re here. Leave a meal or two unplanned though. You need space to fit in one or two of our highly rated local pubs and restaurants. And of course leave a little space in the fridge for some Cotswold delicacies that you might find at a farm shop or farmers market on your day out exploring the beautiful Cotswolds. When it comes to who is going to cook nothing beats dividing into pairs and playing ‘Come Dine With Me’ across your stay. All you’ve got to think about is cooking one meal and the rest of the time you can look forward to enjoying your friend’s creations.
Book a special dinner in a Cotswold pub
You’ll find our list of top pubs in our Cotswold Travel Guide and also our top 3 places to eat at the moment in your cabins welcome pack on arrival. If you’re looking to enjoy a Sunday lunch or weekend dinner it’s best to book in advance as they tend to fill up with locals and holiday gooers a like. In summer time you may be lucky enough to take lunch al fresco and in colder months make sure you ask if there’s a table free next to the open log fire! Always the coziest spot in the pub.
Choose some paddleboards…and a hot tub to jump into after
Although lots of groups come to the lake with plans to explore the surrounding Cotswolds, guests very often find once they arrive they cant drag themselves away from the hot tub, log fire and rowing boat lifestyle! With a steaming hot tub to start the day off, a mornings walk around the lake together, an afternoon spent catching up around the log fire and paddle boarding around the 100 acres of water, and an evening of delicious foods and of course some hot tub star gazing why would you need to go anywhere else? If you’re staying in Mayo Landing you’ve also got the heated pool and wood fired sauna to fit in. You may need to make it a week!
Plan a day out into the Cotswolds
Whatever you are looking for you’ll find lots of things to choose from in our Cotswold Guide. From long walks through rolling Cotswold hills or a tour of some of the best food producers to the best towns to wander through for a spot of boutique shopping and some afternoon tea. We’ve got lists of ideas if you’re looking for free things to do or things to do if your coming along with dogs and even a list for when the weathers not behaving.
Arrange spa treatments for your holiday
Whilst staying in your log cabin you can arrange for a therapist to treat you to a variety of spa treatments. Either they can come to treat one person in particular otherwise it’s possible for everyone to have a treatment or two. Don’t forget to add some spa robes to your booking for that spa feeling all weekend. They’re also very handy for getting to and from your hot tub in winter months!
So what are you waiting for? Create that Whatsapp group and get planning…
P.s. Boring but important: It’s sometimes awkward and annoying sorting out who pays for what on a group trip. If you haven’t already used the app ‘Splitwise’ check it out. It makes keeping track of who has paid for what and how to settle up at the end really fair and easy. Just speaking from personal experience!
