With wingspans up to six feet the grey heron is one our biggest characters down at the lake. Despite herons usually being sociable birds when it comes to nesting, making homes in long-established heronries, this guy has been busy enjoying his private nest on a central island here on the lake. The pictures below were captured by one of our guests whilst enjoying their birdwatching holiday for their hot tub at Island Lodge. This guy is clearly busy making his own log cabin here in the Cotswolds. Perhaps we will have another getaway soon if he keeps up the hard work…
