Our guests are always amazed by how much there is to do on our private lake and in the Cotswold Water Park, and some don’t feel the need to venture beyond our beautiful reserve at all. All of our luxury lakeside cabins come with a private pier and rowing boat, a barbeque and fire pit, a private beach plus an optional traditional Finnish hot tub which overlooks the water. Other activity extras on the lake include paddleboarding, kayaking, cycling, fishing and even landscape photography lessons – so you’ll never have a moment of boredom! But if you’re staying here for an extended period of time and you’re looking for a daytrip further afield, here’s our handy little guide to daytrips with the kids, daytrips for the adults, and daytrips to pretty towns and villages in the local area.
Day Trips with Kids
Weston Super Mare Beach
This popular beach is just over an hour away from Log House Holidays and there’s an NCP carpark close to the pier. It’s well facilitated with deck chair hire, toilets, a shop and first aid point with cafes and restaurants nearby too.
West Midlands Safari Park
An hour up north is West Midlands Safari Park – a great day out for kids of all ages! The park is home to some of the most beautiful and rare animal species, including tigers, zebras and a newborn baby rhino. It comprises an adventure theme park, a safari drive-through, a dinosaur land, a discovery trail and an African village.
Day Trips for Adults
Day Out in London
London is perfect for groups or couples looking for shopping plus great food and drink in the capital. Trains leave from Kemble (changing at Swindon) to London Paddington daily (roughly one train every hour) and last trains back are usually around 22:00.
Shopping in Bristol
Just outside of the Cotswold region is bustling Bristol; a very stylish city for alternative fashion, underground music, indie brands and labels, plus a thriving art scene. You can hop on a bus from just £14 one way or drive there in 50 minutes.
Wine Tasting in Newent
The perfect adults-only trip can be enjoyed less than hour away from our lake, in Newent. Three Choirs Vineyards is one of England’s oldest and largest vineyards and it’s open all year round for wine tasting tours. There’s also a great restaurant where you can sample the local produce too.
