A Sustainable History
Since 1980, our family has landscaped this site into a stunning venue, planting over 50,000 trees, wild flowers and reed beds. This led the venue to be awarded as a Special Site of Scientific Interest (SSSI) in 1991. In order to be in keeping with this eco-sensitive site we have built just 8 traditional log houses, constructed from sustainable Finnish woodlands. Designed for Scandinavian winters, these houses are incredibly well insulated and are consequently cosy in the winter and cool in the summer. Different from the more commercial, larger scale holiday venues, we carefully balance conservation interests with the interests of our guests for the perfect eco-friendly holiday in the UK.
Environmental Energy Sources
All of our holiday cabins have modern ground source heat pumps which extract heat from the lake, supplying all of the hot water, underfloor heating and the traditional Finnish hot tubs. In 2011, we installed a large solar tracking system which sits hidden in one of the large reed beds; this provides nearly all of the electricity that is used on site so you can holiday with true peace of mind. Sustainable firewood for the Clearview wood burners in each cabin is also harvested on-site from our coppiced tree plantations. Finally, water in all of the cabins comes from our on-site spring, which produces fantastically pure spring water.
Nature On Your Doorstop
With such outstanding natural beauty and abundant wildlife, you won’t want to leave our eco-friendly site. There’s plenty to do here too; try your luck with a spot of fishing, wind down in your outdoor hot tub, explore the lake by foot or on bike, take a ride in your private rowing boat, or stargaze at night and toast marshmallows on the fire pit. No need to fly abroad for a beach holiday either – each of our luxury cabins have their very own private beach! The magical wooded area beyond the poplar grove is a fantastic place for kids to make dens and climb trees whilst our 4 acre playing field is ideal for team sports and running around with your dog. With the endless nature spotting to be done, our holidays are also a great educational experience – birdwatching holidays in the UK have never had so much luxury! With the binoculars in your cabin keep your eyes also open for the otter family.

There’s even an Organic Farm Shop nearby so you can get the best locally sourced food – they even deliver right to your cabin door!
