Looking for a truly romantic place for getting engaged in the Cotswolds? Log House Holidays gives you our top 5 spots for a unique and memorable “I Do” moment…
Westonbirt Arboretum
Get lost in the winding paths of this world famous arboretum. Ancient trees and masses of wild flowers make this a really romantic location. Choose an Autumn day for a whole array of leaf colours, get down on one knee and pull out the ring from behind a fallen leaf. Magic! Stop at the quintessentially English Hare and Hounds pub on the way back to celebrate with some champagne.
The River Windrush at Bourton on the Water
This is probably our favourite Cotswold village and it is thought to be one of England’s most romantic. With its honey coloured winding streets, low bridges and slow flowing river it’s an idyllic spot. Spend the afternoon exploring the quaint shops and enjoying the famous afternoon teas served up at one of the Tea Rooms. The River Windrush is only a foot or so deep and on a hot summers day it is lovely for wading in. With clear water and a clean gravel bed its truly charming. Surprise your loved one by getting down on one knee with the water flowing around you as you ask the all important question.
Snowdrops at Painswick
If you are here in January or February the snowdrop woods at Painswick make for a very special backdrop. Wrap up in the cold weather and explore this sensual 18th Century garden, before proposing and whisking her back to your steaming lakeside hot tub!
The Cotswold Way
The surrounding area is full of lovely walks which make for an intimate day out and a good opportunity to surprise her. The Cotswold Way is well marked and you could do just a small section for a day on your holiday in the Cotswolds. Along the way you will pass through quaint old villages which are sure to boast a good pub where you can buy some bubbly to celebrate. Wy not time your walk with one of the many farmers markets and pick up some local delicacies beforehand to enjoy as a picnic en route. Roll out the rug and she’s sure to say “yes!”. Check out our ‘Outdoor Activities’ section in our Cotswolds Guide for more walks.
Log House Holidays!
Why leave your romantic lakeside log cabin at all? We have lots of suggestions for here. Jump in your own rowing boat and explore the many islands before getting down on one knee in front of your lakeside retreat. The lakeside walk is very romantic and the banks of wild flowers and specimen trees make lovely surroundings for such a special day. How about showing off your cooking skills by whipping up a delicious candle lit meal al fresco and popping the question in the wooden hot tub as you watch the moon rise over the still lake. Hopefully a shooting star will bless your proposal too! All of our cabins are hidden away so your secluded romantic hideaway creates the perfect mood for such an occasion. Your cabins kitchen is fully equipped too so there is no need to bring anything from home except your other half’s favourite food!
Good luck…and Congratulations! We look forward to welcoming you back for your honeymoon…
